We did not plan to go to Vegas but a last minute change in travel plans landed
us there. I went online to get some hotel prices and as we are traveling with a
little dog I wanted a "pet friendly" hotel. I saw an advertisement for The
Flamingo stating they were pet friendly and had pet friendly rooms and even a
pet welcome package for your pet. The cost of the room was quoted at 130.00 .
(regular rooms started around 70.00) Last time we were in Vegas with our pet we
stayed off the strip and it cost us about 79.00 a night but the cab ride to and
from the strip totaled out at around 50.00 so we figured that it was cost
effective to stay right on the strip this time. We checked in and with our tax
the room came to 164.00 for one night. Then after taking our money they told us
we had to pay an additional 100.00 "pet deposit". I told them I thought the
higher cost of the room included the "deposit" and they said no. So then the
desk clerk askes us if we want to up grade our room and we say no. She seemed
very disappointed so I assumed she would have got a commission if we had. We
went to our room and it was nothing special, very run of the mill...in fact we
stayed in a nicer room at a Super 8 Motel in Saint George the night before!
There was no coffee pot in the room, no micro wave and no refrigerator. I went
to plug in my laptop and there was a card swipe! You have to pay 13.99 for a
day's use of the WiFi! I called customer service and was told very snottily that
I should be happy because I wasn't charged a "Resort Fee". I said that after
paying 265.00 internet should be free as well as include a microwave or at least
free coffee. I was told this was very normal for Las Vegas. I went to turn down
the bed and there were huge holes in the sheets about the size of a lemon, no
blanket, no bedspread just a sheet. We were going to see the Donny and Marie
show which we had seen last summer and were just delighted with but we decided
the Flamingo had gotten enough of our money and we went to dinner, a show and
gambled at another casino. We will not be staying there again! By the way, the
pet friendly room was on the 16th floor so to take your pet out to relieve
himself you must go down 16 floors, across the lobby, out the patio doors,
across the patio, down the sidewalk to the end of the hotel then through a gate.
Not too convenient.

We always stay at the Flamingo! The location is the best! They have remodeled
their rooms, and they are fabulous!!! They are very modern and super nice! The
food at the hotel is amazing quality, and of course, Jimmy Buffett's
Margaritville on-site is always the best time!!! We also loved the new
Margaretville casino!! The location of the hotel is perfect! We walked across
the road to the Forum Shops at Caesars and roamed up and down the strip for all
of the sights and sounds of Vegas! We love Vegas and always stay at the Flamingo
for the high quality of the hotel and value. Never have had a bad experience
here! You'll love it! Have a great time!

The location is very good, and in warmer weather, the pool is wonderful.
However, some of the hotel main areas were in disrepair (for example, their was
a rip in the carpet near the elevators on my floor that led to frequent
tripping) and there problems with the room as well. More importantly, the
service from staff was terrible. When I first arrived, my room was at 73 degrees
and very stuffy. Once I realized that I could not change the thermostat, I
called the desk (at 2 pm) to ask for help. After arguing with me about why I was
hot (because I was probably outside recently), she then stated she would send up
someone to fix it. Having come in from the east coast and suffering jet lag, I
fell asleep at 10:00 pm. The service man, however, showed up at 11:30 and began
banging on my door (waking me from a sound sleep). This is one of several
examples of poor service during my three day stay there. Do yourself a favor and
find somewhere else to stay.

This hotel is cheap, I know. But still, I thought that one could expect at least
a clean room for the price. Our room was dirty (and I mean really really dirty),
our pillows were lying on the floor (why?!) and there was hair all over the
bathroom. Check-in waiting time is constantly about one hour. There are always
at least 30 guest waiting to check in but out of about 10 desks usually just 2
are open for check in. There is a self-check-in opportunity which I used that
was convenient. Wifi is completely overpriced, there is just no good reason for
Internet to be 15 bucks a day in the year 2012 anymore!! If you already booked
this hotel and you cannot cancel, upgrade to a Go-room, I heard that this is
actually acceptable.
To sum up, besides the very good location there is just nothing good about this
hotel. If you can afford it, book another hotel at the same location. Next time
I would choose a hotel 10-15min walking distance from the strip for the same
price but higher level.

Pink Flamingo is the place to stay in Vegas! We stayed 4 nights at the end of
November, 2011. Although one of the older hotels, the rooms are large and have
everything you need. The hotel staff are very friendly
