I had to visit the MGM hotel and casino for a business meeting. I arrived at the
hotel early in the morning before 8 am. I was told " check in doesn't start
until at least 11 am" which is still early for the industry. In all my years
traveling to Vegas, I have waited only one other time for a room but that was
with a HUGE convention in town. Needless to say, I was exhausted, having
traveled for 7-8 hours at that point. The receptionist did not offer to store my
luggage, nor offer any other service. I just lugged my luggage and bags around.
Hospitality...0.
I did receive my room early around 11, and checked into the hotel under
renovation. It needs it bad, because my room was old and out of date. All in
all, a disappointing visit to Vegas.

When i first travel to US, i did not miss visiting Vegas, not to mention the big
dam and the museums, the large hotels with different themes amused me so much. I
stayed in MGM for a couple of days. I wanted to stay there because i only see
that in Pacquiao's event. It's really huge!!! The downside was i don't like the
room ambiance, it's clean and big but if you're nose is sensitive to smell, i
don't think you would like to stay in the room. If you're a gambler, you
wouldn't notice it because your mind is set to the casino...Love the shows
there, you don't need to go out to enjoy the place. They have an affordable
buffet and an inexpensive fast food restos aside from the high-end clubs and
dinner place...It's kind of old and smelly but all in all, it's a huge average
hotel. Opps, almost forgot, hotel personnel's are friendly...they respond to our
requests fast.***

My wife and I booked the celebrity spa suite with an extended stay up to 3 pm.
We checked in at 7pm and all was well till we returned to the room around 3 am.
There was a message left on the on the phone at 1145 pm saying that the water to
the room would be shut off and from 11am to 4pm. I called the customer service
for an alternate room but they were only able to offer me a standard room as the
suites need to be cleaned. Called back at 10.30 am to see if there were any
available but was told that the new room could also be subject to the water
problem as they have no control with the hotel undergoing renovation. They
offered to provide shower facilities if I needed one. Told them that they could
have informed me about the water problem at check in and I would not have
extended the stay. Instead I was told that she was only a worker and made to
feel that it was my fault for not understanding that renovation work was on
going to make the hotel better. Decided to checkout and approached the front
desk to refund the extension charges Was now told that they were not supposed to
as it was 30 minutes past the checkout of 11 am, but would accommodate me this
time. There was no newspaper although the $20 resort fee was charged and didn't
get to use the internet or spa. Pathetic customer service and never going back
there again.

We stayed at the MGM Grand in February 2011 and really enjoyed the experience.
We stayed in a Tower Deluxe Room, and it was nice and clean. The bed was super
comfy and we had a decent view of the New York, New York across the street. All
of the staff we encountered were very nice. We ordered room service for
breakfast on our last day and the food was delicious. Just what we needed after
a late night. We never had a problem waiting for the elevator, impressive given
the size of the hotel. The hotel/casino is located near the end of the strip but
it's on the Monorail so if you need to get to one of the casinos further up the
strip it's just a quick trip away.
We also saw two shows at the MGM, KA and Drew Carey's Improv-a-ganza. KA was ok,
not the greatest Cirque Du Soleil I've seen in Vegas, but it was entertaining.
The Improv-a-ganza was very funny.

One night is this mega resort is enough. Check in was fast, Long walk to room.
Hotel was in the middle of renovations. Next morning, no water.. none... Was
asked to be patient... Wasn't .
I am in a hotel room three times a month. A notice, a letter wouldn't have been
too much. I went downstairs to complain, the front desk was filled with many
unhappy guest, like me who will not return. You have to feel sorry for the
staff..... Who is in control? |
