Had a great time at the RIO. My husband and I go every December for our birthday. The room was very spacious with a beautiful view of the strip and the mountains. A little out dated but very comfortable. Small coffee pot in the room with a fridge.

Waited in line 45 minutes to check-in to the beginning of my night mare. Front desk staffed by recent high school grads and not yet trained on customer satisfaction. Had to move

My husband booked a special suite for our last night in Vegas. We had a twelfth floor corner suite. The views were amazing. The place was huge. The master bath was to die for. The suite had a living room, dining room and master bedroom.

well, that is what you would get if you stay at the Rio. I "upgraded" to the "new" part of the hotel, and there were coins, straw from drink, hair, etc. all over the carpet. Even after asking housekeeping to clean it and telling them about the issues

On its prime, the Rio was one of the top properties in Las Vegas. However, its current owner (Caesar's Entertainment) has neglected the property: peeling painting, old analogical TV sets, no more

First time in Vegas staying off-strip! We'd consider The Rio, again. We always have a car, so location is not a big issue. We liked the casino and the rooms were comfy and roomy. Service was first class, too.

This property is too big and like many of the Vegas hotels too much smoke in the casino area.

I have stayed at the Rio a couple of times and when i am not staying there I go there to eat and gamble. The service is super. We stayed in the Masquerade tower on our last visit and the room was awesome. We sometimes take our adult daughter with us and the rooms are great. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are roomy. The service is probably the best in Vegas. The only reason I stay anywhere else is the offers I get are sometimes better on the strip..I have never had a complaint at the Rio.

If you are looking for an upscale hotel, this is not for you. I prefer an affordable, clean, quiet room as I don't spend much time in the room. There is too much to do/see in LV. This is my 3rd time @ the Rio and the room was outdated but spacious, quiet, and fairly clean just like the past 2 visits. I did request a quiet room and noticed I was given one in a different section which was not as travelled as the area I spent my last trip. The room did smell a bit of smoke but with so many smokers in Vegas, it must be hard to get rid of the smell. I enjoyed the "Show in the Sky", Buzio's, and the buffet. I like being off the strip because I spend one night dining/gambling downtown & it is easy to take a cab. The shuttle to the strip is also convenient. Taking the shuttle to Bally's, you can hop on the monorail and explore MGM & NY NY. There were some issues with the shuttle service this past weekend due to the slot tournament. You really can't complain because it is free. One thing you learn in LV is patience. Waiting in line is pretty much the standard on a busy weekend. The staff is very friendly and professional. My overall experience was very good. How can you have a bad time in Vegas?

Room was great (size+fridge), view was great (north Strip) and the food choices were great.

BUT. The casino (read main floor level) was the smokiest casino I have been in, in a long, long time. I don't know whether the HVAC system is at fault or whether this place just attracts cig, cigar & pipe smokers.

I got the room I expected but getting to and from the Masquerade Tower required running the smoke gauntlet. Also note that some of the tables in the restaurants and poker room are not "smoke-free" when your table/seat borders the casino/sports book.

The other criticism is the location. Despite the shuttle, which started at 10AM (it may be earlier on weekends, you can check) you will have "dead time" waiting for it and getting from the drop-offs (the back of Harrahs & the back of Ballys on Flamingo) to wherever you really want to go to. A taxi to the Planet Hollywood is about $12 and to Caesars about $10 both with tips. It's your call re "dead time" i.e. getting a cab (easy) and travel time.

Lastly, should you want to save on meals, the Gold Coast, a very easy walk next door, offers buffets that are much less than the Rio. The value-for-money trade-off is your call, but trying the Gold Coast for at least one breakfast buffet should help you make it.

My husband and I go to Vegas two-three times a year and we have found that the Rio is the most comfortable for us. He is a poker player and I am comfortable and safe wandering! The pool is very nice and the restaurants have always been great.! The shows in the sky at night are fun to watch and the coffee shop is close in the morning! The rooms are large and beautiful.

Hotel in serious need of major upgrade. Cost is not much less than newer, better located properties on the Strip itself. Interior passages look like roach motel - lampshades hanging loose and smashed! Also, seems hotel on serious 'money-grabbing' drive - mini-bar in room, yet they charge $3 per glass to supply you with glasses in room! Come now. TV old, CRT type. WiFi is charged per 24hr, free most other hotels. Linen patched. stained. Room service breakfast routinely quoted 'hour to hour half' for delivery. Rooms overlook ugly roof with AC ducts and smell from them overpowering if 'window vents' are open. Was there for WSOP - probably the only reason this place still exists. Hopefully it will be moved from next year.
