Palms Hotel Las Vegas Reviews

So after seeing the Palms highlighted in several TV shows I decided to check it
out. The Palms is located off the strip so you either need a rental car or
willing to pay taxis each time you want to leave the hotel. The lobby and casino
was nothing special but the overall experience was good. I booked directly
through the hotel and got a 24% rate discount after asking for any discounts
beyond AAA. Upon arrival they talked me into upgrading to a larger room (suite
in the older tower) for $30.00. The main reason we stayed was for the pool. IT
was highly rated and we were there on a Friday which they call "Ditch Friday's".
They had a DJ blasting music and younger people (20's and 30's) were mixing it
up. This was not a family sceen and I would have to saw the entire hotel really
does not cater to families. We were ok with this and did enjoy the experience.

I was staying for two nights and upon arrival was told the water was going to be
cut off from 11PM - 5AM. Six hours. No water. I'm fairly easy to deal with, but
having worked in a hotel, I was dumbfounded that they were not offering a free
meal, or show, casino chips or even a free DRINK. No shower, no toilets,
nothing. No running water. Completely unacceptable.
Parking is easy and close. The casino floor is small. There is a nice movie
theater and a small food court.
The gym was okay. The steam room wasn't working.
The location is about a mile off the strip. It's not an awful commute, but it's
off the strip.
Bartenders were friendly and the staff at the Twenty Four Seven were
exceptional. Housekeeping was friendly.
Rooms were nice.
I just couldn't get over the no water thing for six hours and no offer to
compensate.

We stayed at the Palms Place for 2 nights in Sept 2011. The room was amazing,
the bathroom had a tv, rain shower and a bathtub. The room had a full kitchen
and had a great view of the strip. The casino has a good choice of food and it
doesn't stink like smoke as soon as you walk in like other hotels. The only
things I didn't like was that it was pretty far from the strip (there is a
shuttle across the street at the hotel) and the Palms Place is the furthest away
from the casino so you have to walk quite always to get to your room.

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Palms while in Vegas for another friend's
wedding. At first I was a little unsure about it because I have never stayed off
the strip before, but once we were there all of that uncertainty went out the
window. We were "upgraded" to Palms Place as there were no more rooms left at
the rate we had booked, and the suite we ended up in was AMAZING. We were on the
38th floor, we had a great view, a kitchen complete with a cooktop and a
dishwasher (not that we used it) a rain shower, a jet tub and 3 televisions.
Granted, we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but when we were there it
was nice. The casino was small compared to other hotels on the strip, but we
weren't there to gamble. We spent one evening at Moon and had a great time, and
it was a short trip to our room after which was perfect. The brunch buffet was
great, and with a Palms players card you got 30% off so it was $14 for the two
of us. There was a Starbucks next door with free wifi, and a bus that stopped
right out front which took us to the strip. We did take a cab one day, but we
found the bus to be faster and just as easy. Also, if you bought a pass for the
bus on the strip it would also get you on the city bus to and from the hotel. I
have no complaints, we had a great time! In fact, I enjoyed being off the strip
and away from the associated noise (I have had trips to Vegas with work when I
have been woken numerous times by the Bellagio fountain).

Pool side the adorable bikini clad girls were snobs and made no apologies when
the fruit plate took and hour to be delivered! Mexican restaurant service was
the same poor service with no smiles or attempt at being service orientated.
Sadly the housekeeping service was bad as well: we left our room at 8:30am for
breakfast and to hit the pool and when we returned at 5:45pm our room had not
been touched! A call to the desks and the woman who answers states that they
work until 6:00 so for us to be patient! The rooms were noisey; we could hear
the music from the pool on our 12th floor plus every flush and water consumption
our neighbors made! There was scraps of paper on the floor in the hall way on
all 3 days we stayed! Not one hotel person picked it up! This tells me the
employees are not happy on their job! No sense of pride in their hotel. The
layout of the hotel is nice with some nice touches. The playboy tower blocks the
sun at the pool beginning around 2:00 pm cutting short your tanning time.
Overall it was an over priced hotel. A fight even broke out by supposedly VIP's
in the bar. Not an atmosphere of fun loving vacation. The maroon 5 concert was
awesome and the venue is excellent. However with so many choices in the area I'd
rather stay somewhere where the service is good and they seem happy to have me
there! |
