What a great trip. This time I was not there for business but brought a family
member from overseas. The Nugget is a great place to stay with lots to do and
great service, our housekeeper on the 18th floor was Maria and what a treat, she
really went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. I will be
back and will recommend this hotel to anyone going to Las Vegas. Rooms are well
furbished and very clean, price was great as well.
See you in December, I am already planning my next trip there!!

Having been to Vegas six times prior to this trip, I must admit I booked the
Golden Nugget with some scepticism. I had never stayed Downtown before and my
view of Freemont and the area was that was low budget and sketchy. I was wrong.
The Golden Nugget is among the best Vegas hotels I have stayed and exceeded my
stays at Luxor, MGM, and the old Aladdin (pre-Planet Hollywood conversion).
Overall, if you are considering trying something different and getting off The
Strip, there is not a better choice in Vegas in Downtown. As an aside, the Las
Vegas Outlets are almost walking distance from the hotel.

Yes! Stay here.
We stayed in the Carson Tower (which is the older rooms) but they are COMPLETELY
FINE; Vegas is outside the room anyways.
Once in my room for the evening (after I went to dinner with friends and
'donated' money), I called for my bags and got a very detailed explanation of
the hotel from bellman--worth the tip money!
The Nugget is quite family friendly (except in the casino, of course!), so if
you want a no-kids experience go to Palms. There is an 18+ sunbathing area and a
very small 16+ pool.
Service was excellent. I easily got extra pillows at midnight and when something
wasn't right with the shower, they were there and fixed it in ten minutes.
On Fremont Street, the 'tourist trap' shops all sell 2/$1 water, for what its
worth.
I enjoyed the stay and would go back.
Room Tip: VIP check-in guarantees your exact room.

This is a great property!
Check in was quick, and my room on the eighth floor of the new Rush Tower was
perfect. In fact, it was exactly like the pictures on the hotel website. The bed
was great, the separate L-sofa was comfortable, lighting at the ample
workstation was adequate and the Rainforest showerhead was a real treat.
Before checking in, be sure to sign up for the Golden Nugget’s player card.
Present it at check in and when you purchase chips in the casino or play the
slots.
As to the casino, the Nugget’s was one of the friendliest ones I have ever been
in. Now, I’m not saying the pit bosses were chatty or overly engaging, but
unlike some of the ones at Strip casinos, these pit bosses actually made eye
contact, mentioned me by name and once in a while said “congratulations” when a
dealer paid me off.
I highly recommend the Golden Nugget, especially the Rush Tower if you are a
nonsmoker. Some posters have complained about the $10 in-room coffee service,
but it is optional and at least one of the Starbucks in the Nugget is open 24
hours a day.

We stayed a night at the Golden Nugget after leaving an upscale strip hotel. We
have stayed at the Golden Nugget before and will definitely stay there again. We
book two junior corner suites and, as usual, they were clean and spacious. They
did not have the worn look as the strip hotel did and, while it was an oversold
weekend due to some rave going on, the staff was courteous and went out of the
way to help us. One suite was ready on check in and the other, within an hour of
the appointed check in time. Beware, however, that, when we asked for a late
check out by two hours, we were told we would have to pay $70/hour. Not cool,
especially when they weren't on time. That, however, was the only drawback of
the stay. |
