This is a nice hotel in a good location. when compared with some of the more
upmarket hotels in Vegas it appears a little dated but nothing to complain
about. Just make sure you get a room at the top of the hotel as they are
spacious, well appointed and have fantastic views. (A $50 tip at the reception
will secure an upgrade.) The intimate, more peaceful nature of this hotel is
particularly appealing after spending time in the grander, noisier hotels e.g.
Caesars, Bellagio. P.S. the beds are EXTREMELY comfortable! But if you are
looking for a 5* experience, I would recommend the Palazzo or the Venetian.

If you are not a hard core gambler and want to go for the fun don't stay here.
The Venetian or Bellagio have separate gambling dens so the crowds don't clash
and you don't get a lung full of smoke every day. They had no fridge in room, no
kettle ( fire risk they said-ha what a joke as they allow smoking in rooms- its
all to force you to pay up big time) pool was crowded but biggest minus was the
layout. The check in is at least 250 feet from lifts and you have to weave
through the casino with all your bags. The there is the resort fees of $20 bucks
which cover all the things you get free else where like internet, pool and
cardio room (but not weights area that is extra). Likewise to access the pool
you have to go through the shopping area and cover up each time. The food was
very expensive and you there were long lines every morning for the star bucks
and coffee spots. Best thing was the beds were the best we have slept on-really
comfy. Cost us $150 a night but pay more and stay less days elsewhere I suggest.

I just returned from a fun girls trip! We had 2 rooms on the 22nd floor - one
with a strip view (we could watch the volcano) and one with a pool view (you
could see the dolphins from there). Both rooms were clean and well-appointed. An
in room coffee pot would've been nice to have. We ordered a pot one morning from
room service - very expensive coffee! Other than that I had no complaints,
although the girls in the other room had difficulty sleeping one night due to a
young couple yelling in the hall. The room was quite reasonable and we had
plenty of room. The elevators were quick and not too crowded. Drinks in the bars
were high! $10 for well vodka and $15 or $16 for a glass of wine. The only meal
we ate in the hotel was at BLT burger and the food was very good! I split the
oriental salad and the 3 mini-burgers with another girl and all of it was
delicious. If I were ordering again I would choose the BLT burger with bacon!
YUIMM! I would gladly return to the Mirage.

You can hear "EVERYTHING" in the hallway from inside your room. Not a good place
to stay if you are a light sleeper. If you have a rental car, park on the fourth
floor...there is a bridge that connects to the hotel. We drove to the Grand
Canyon....it was GREAT! Long trip...five hours each way. Housekeeping was great!
We asked for extra towels, she made sure we had them daily. The pool area is
beautiful; however, if you don't go early, forget a lounge chair and if and when
you find one, you'll feel like your in a can of sardines. The food was decent in
Carvings, it was a nice variety. The location is GOOD. The customer service was
great in some areas of the hotel and not so great in other parts of the hotel.
We didn't have a bad experience, we would just stay at another hotel.

Stayed in a Volcano view room about 2 floors from the top. Fantastic view of the
Strip and the impressive regular Volcano extravaganza at nights. Room was very
spacious and had a huge comfortable bed. No problem sleeping as it was nice and
quiet with windows closed and curtains drawn.
The hotel complex is very impressive but so are many others in Vegas. The pool
area is probably one of the best with an oasis of palm trees and a large
waterfall. However it gets crowded and by afternoons empty sun beds are in short
supply.
Another hidden wonder is Siegried and Roy's secret garden. Which is a large
tropical garden behind the hotel containing two huge dolphin swimming habitats
as part of a dolphin research centre. There is also an area housing Big Cats
which last year included two very young white tiger cubs. From memory entrance
to the garden was around $15 but well worth it.
Our overall stay was very good. In such a huge hotel service is always going to
seem a little impersonal but when we reported a problem with our room safe it
was investigated fairly quickly and fixed within a couple of hours.
One area of warning don't use the phones in your room! I made two calls to book
hotels in California and got charged around $30 for the privilege !
Overall a very pleasant stay. Would I stay again....no but only because there
are so many other impressive hotels to sample. Would I recommend it.....yes.
It's expensive so watch out for deals. |
