Rio Hotel and Casino Las Vegas Reviews

The Rio was all in all decent, but the service wasn't very good as we pretty
much had to find out everything ourselves. For first-time visitors to Las Vegas
and casinos, it would be nice to have some information (like a welcome packet)
available. For example, when we the first evening (after driving 6 hours from
LA) we wanted dinner and decided to go to the Italian restaurant Martorano's,
the hostess asked us if we had a Player's Card which we were unaware what was
and she didn't tell us that we should go get one (it was free). The result was
that our dinner bill had an extra $12 on it because we didn't have this card,
which we could go get at the casino.
However, service was good, when we asked for information ourselves - it would
just be nice to get more information from the beginning, but perhaps it was
because of WSOP, as the hotel was completely full.
Otherwise we had a great deal for breakfast where we got $9 per person per day
to spend at Starbucks or Rio Java. The steakhouse American Bar & Grill was also
good.
Prices for food and drinks were though very high, but I guess that's Las Vegas
for you...
The room was very big which is a plus, and the bed was comfortable. TV and other
furniture, curtains + paint etc. could really use an update! In general, the
hotel and casino felt a bit tired and outdated. Pool area GREAT!

Check in was fine. About six people working. We were there about noon. But later
in the day the line was a mile long, and only about eight people working.
The internet was slow when it worked. It would just kick you off, it did it a
lot. If you need the internet, you can't stay here.
The room was big, and nice.
The problem was maid service. There wasn't any. At about 3:45 our room hadn't
been cleaned yet, so my wife ask a maid in the hall for a towel, the maid acted
surprised, and said something like , you want the room cleaned? Well the night
shift will have to do that. Well, room was never cleaned. This has never
happened to me ever.
There are just too many bad reviews too ignore. Even the best hotel will have a
complaint once in a while, but look at all of them. It's like the casino,
sometimes you win, sometimes you don't.

Don't stay in the Masquerade Tower , any floor below the Voodoo lounge will be
treated to the music and pounding from 10 pm until 2 am.
You may get a dirt cheap deal to stay there, but they charge you 22 bucks a day
for the fitness center which has nothing special in it, they charge you 15 bucks
for the internet, they charge you 10 bucks to stay in a room with a view.
Toilets don't work, have to flush at least 3 times. Rooms need work, they said
they were remodeled, they don't vacuum for at least 3 or 4 days in the room.
Shuttles to the strip are available but almost impossible to get on since they
only go every 30 minutes have only 2 vans, lines are very long to wait, just
take a cab. Meals way too pricey for the kind of place it is. Pools are just ok,
have 4 of them but play different music at each one so it backfires.

Memorial Weekend stay was excellent and memorable. From the Valet squeezing me
in late on Friday, to the less than 10 minutes to check-in with a dozen or so
people in front of me, the cleanliness and size of the room, and the gambling
and restaurant availability as well as the promptness of the shuttles to the
strip.
The food at the All American Bar and Grill was incredible. The pool area was
nice. The products in the bathroom were well stocked. The shower pressure was
very nice (other reviewers need to learn they can adjust adjust the pressure on
the head). There was a coffee maker in the room (Other reviewers need to learn
to look around).
The air conditioning was very good and the cleanliness was impeccable.
This hotel is not "family" friendly, though there were many kids around, there
is plenty for everyone. I will definitely stay here again.

We we arrived on Wednesday afternoon and then ventured out to the pool to have a
drink. We ordered two double Pina Coladas. They were $26 a piece and when you
add in the tip $62 for two drinks seems a bit expensive. Later on the day we
went to the video poker bar in the middle of the casino before dinner. We were
playing the 25 cent video poker games at the bar and we were told that we
couldn't have free drinks as we were not playing the maximum amount ($1.25) for
each game. I'm guessing that they don't have free drinks at the 25 cent slots
either but we didn't explore that. We ended up doing most of gambling on the
strip which had free drinks at all locations that we went to. |
