My wife and I just returned from a romantic weekend getaway at Bally's. We
booked a standard King room & were treated to a free upgrade! The room was dated
but it was clean and very spacious. The mini fridge & the partial view of the
strip was nice. The disappointment here was in the Casino, not good if they want
you to gamble there. We've stayed at several Harrah's properties & this seems to
be the pattern.
For some reason, nearly all of the cocktail waitresses hate their jobs, dish out
plenty of bad attitude, and let you know that they are doing you a huge favor by
bringing you that 4 oz. drink. The last straw was waiting over an hour to order
a drink while playing slots. A smile and wave to get her attention after 2
previous walk-bys was greeted by "The Hand", an eyeroll and another "I might be
back later walk away". I mean, just slap me and tell me I'm an idiot if I drop
any money in Bally's Casino again!!!
We tried to relate this experience to the P.J. (Food & Bev. Mgr.) & Jason (Night
Slots Mgr.) but that only prolonged our drought another hour! Put a coke machine
in the corner and I'll get my own. We gave up and went to the room where I
called the Night Hotel Mgr. To his credit, he had Room Service bring up 2
complimentary drinks. He apologized for Denise, his cocktail waitress, and
promised to have her Supervisor call me. Still Waiting.
Although I would stay at this hotel again, MY GAMBLING DAYS HERE ARE OVER. Do
yourself a favor. Save the frustration and walk across the street to the
BELLAGIO!

We stayed at Ballys in June 2011, and had nothing but good things to say! Rooms
are much larger than other rooms of the same price in Vegas. I wasn't looking to
spend $500 a night on something I would only sleep in, so we went to Ballys.
I've read other reviews before booking, and saw mostly good things were said. We
slipped a $20 to the cashier/check in desk upon arrival, and we were upgraded to
the North Tower (newly renovated). This is one of the hotels that accepts
"bribes" to upgrade. Like I said, the rooms were fairly large. Ours had a couch
and desk, in addition to a king size bed, TV, side tables, safe (which you are
charged $3 a day to use), and a beautiful washroom. The floors in the washroom
were granite, same with the countertops. There's no coffee maker in the room,
but there is a coffee shop in the lobby, or anywhere else in Vegas! Rooms were
quiet, and we never heard the next room at all! There is also somewhat of a food
court downstairs on the way to the pool. The pool itself is rather boring. Just
a rectangular pool, but if you only need to tan and go for a dip, and not party,
it's sufficient. I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat! Have a great
time!

We weren't expecting much from Bally's. Just a place to sleep.
We arrived fairly late and were still met with a line @ check in. Seemed to
always be one. We had the *RUDEST* guy, ironically named Elvis, check us in.
After calling us over, he rudley looked at his screen, pecked on the computer in
cyber speed. We tried to make small talk and he wouldn't even look at us. I
asked if there were any upgrades available and he said "No way". Um, okay then.
Turns out they were sold out of the rooms we had booked and we were upgraded to
a suite for the night. Only it was made abundantly clear this was for one night
only and we would have to change to our regular rooms the next night.
The size of the suite (1700 square feet) and the view of the strip/pool were
quite impressive. The decor was hideous and hadn't been redone in about 20
years. The suite was filthy dirty. Dust everywhere. There was a jacuzzi tub in
the room that I had to clean before we would even step foot in it. The maid
hadn't cleaned the very visable ring around the tub off. Ewww. I didn't expect
to have to spend our first night cleaning that, but what are you going to do?
Thank goodness I travel with a small can of Lysol.
We went down to "guest services" the next day. What a joke. Had one clerk
waiting on the whole line of people. Stood in line for 30 minutes at least to
change rooms for the mistake that THEY made by overbooking. How's that for
customer service?? I asked what it would be to stay in the big room, was told an
additional $150 a night. She tried to tell us that normally, that suite went for
$800 a night. Ha! If I paid that much for that dump, I would be furious!! We
didn't pay $800 for our whole trip (airfare included). We decided to save our
money and move to a regular room.
She sent a bellman up. He was a very nice elderly man, but don't let his age
fool you. That guy threw our bags on and practially ran through that hotel.
After that marathon, we arrived in our regular room. It was in the back tower.
It was much cleaner, decor was updated. The view of the parking garage sucked,
but you get what you pay for I guess. Our A/C was working very well, kept the
room cool. Bed was comfortable. Housekeeping came every day and did a good job
cleaning up. No complaints after that. Check out was easy.
I would stay here again if I had to. I am glad that none of us expected more out
of the place than what we got.

Stayed here last week and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It doesn't
look great from the outside compared to some of the other hotels but dint let
that put you off. The rooms are clean, spacious and very reasonable. Discount
vouchers are given out at the reception when you check in which came in handy.
Free parking is available at their sister hotel next door called Paris. Both
hotels are joined together. |
