My family and I were here for the AAU basketball tournament this past weekend.
My biggest issue with this hotel was that they couldn't find a room for me, my
wife and four kids after we arrived at 4am (after 10hr drive). We had to wait
until after 3pm before we were able to get into a room. Sleeping in a car for 5
hours is not fun! But, aside from that, we had a very nice stay at this hotel.
We stayed in the tower where the pool was located. This is the older tower so
the rooms aren't as upgraded as those in the Select tower. Staying on the same
level as the pool made up for the wait for a room! Our room was very spacious.
BUT, our bathroom was not the best. The shower/tub and toilet were located
behind a closed door (tight space) while the sink was outside. My wife didn't
care for that setup very much.
Things to do in the hotel
Although my older son thought the hotel didn't have enough action, it was good
to me. The hotel is at the far north end of the strip. It's a good walk to the
main part of the strip. We had a car so was able to drive to where we wanted to
go. I heard taxi rides were like $20 which seems very high to me. Roxy's
restaurant was delicious at a good value for a large family. The buffet was a
little overpriced so we didn't eat there.
The tower gives one a good view of the city. We went up in the evening...free
admission for hotel guests. I am not daring enough to ride the rides they have
atop the tower.
I don't gamble and I really hate that these casinos force families through the
gambling areas. All the casinos we visited had smoke everywhere. The Bellagio
seemed to have the cleanest, breathable air as we walked through the casino area
to get to the shops and garden. Everywhere else is a second-hand smoke fest.
Anyway, the Stratosphere is pretty busy but not as busy as those hotels closer
to the strip. I personally like the quieter places. Also, this hotel didn't
require a marathon walk to any one part of the hotel. We walked through the MGM,
Ceasars, and Bellagio and felt like we'd walked a marathon.
The pool was nice as well. The pool is located on the 8th floor. It's not as big
as the pool at other casinos (i.e., Excalibur, MGM Grand), but it worked for us.
We don't sunbath...there weren't very many shady areas on the 8th floor. So, we
just had to stay in the water until we were ready to go back to our room.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. The value was unbeatable. I will
probably stay here again.

Great overall value, we upgraded to the select room which was nice, but we were
only on the 12 floor and had a view of the parkade and got to hear many car
alarms echoing through the concrete structure repeatedly. Our room safe was
locked and unusable upon arrival, we asked that it be opened for us so we could
lock our passports in it but no one ever did come to open it for us. These
problems caused us to ask to be moved to a different room, this seemed to be a
burden for the front desk staff but they did offer us a room across the hall.
The view from this room was no better, this time we had a great view of the air
conditioners and satellite dishes on the roof below our window! Lol
This hotel is nice, kept very clean, and is a great value, but don't expect
decent service from the staff.

We have been on business as well as for fun and we have made a very good
decision to stay at the Stratosphere. All rooms that we got were Upgrades with
the view on the Strip and free entry to the tower observatory. It is walking
distance to the main attractions only if you have good shoes as it took us about
35 minutes to get to the real downtown. Casino is very nice, diner served very
good food 24/7 and there is also a Starbucks right at the lobby level with good
coffee to start your day. This is Vegas, so no free WiFi like in Europe, but
still very good deal at roughly 40 EUR a day.... Definitely worth to visit and
try!

Great view from the tower, and great rides. The room was very clean and comfy.
Room service was good. Great location on the strip, not too crowded.

Stratosphere Hotel and Casino is an amazing place to stay when visiting Las
Vegas. The rooms are incredible and the view over the Strip is even more so. The
rooms are very spacious, modern and clean. The beds are unbelievably comfortable
and the breakfast buffet might be a bit expensive compared to other places, but
still very price worthy.
The staff was very helpful and they help on several occasions and for different
reasons. The hotel also has everything… and I mean EVERYTHING. Their own casino,
shows, a mall, a car rental service, their very famous tower, rides on top of
the tower and so much more.
The only downside was that it’s kind of far down on the strip. When looking down
it looks as if everything is very close… but don’t be mistaken. The first day we
walked everywhere, but eventually it just makes you tired. So, luckily enough
the bus stop is right outside. It’s kind of expensive, but still worth it.
Believe me when I say that it’s better to let other things get you tired besides
walking everywhere.
Next time coming to LV I will definitely stay here again. |
