arrived at hotel at 2pm we were advised check in at 3pm onward only, fine went
for something to eat and returned to wait in line for 45 minutes with only 3
people on check-in 2 dealing with vip only, at 4pm we were told there were no
rooms ready for non smoking but they'd lock the room and it would be cleaned
within the hour, at 5pm we were told the room was not cleaned and come back at
6pm, we said not happy about that and were told the only way we could have a
room was to take a smoking room, which was not acceptable to us. we asked to
speak to the manager, only then were we giving a non smoking room. my inlaws
arrived later that evening after a long haul flight from the uk, they were told
they HAD to take a smoking room that night as there were no none smoking
left----both our bookings had been made months in advance and whereas only 1
night had been taking in advance for our booking, the inlaws had paid for 2
weeks in advance. the hotel waivered the resort fee of $10 per night on our
booking, but having to hang around in the lobby when you've got tickets to a
show and would like to washed and change isn't much fun. the check-in staff
couldn't be bothered. i have to say the room was lovely and the bed very comfy
but i know i'd never stay there again.

Stayed here last year and it was Fab. This year, a completely different story.
We arrived to our room....room 415, the bathroom floor was so filthy dirty that
I took a wash cloth and cleaned it, because there was "NO" other room to move us
too. We stayed midweek so you know they weren't sold out. While taking a shower,
which there was no water pressure to speak of, the showerhead fell off the pipe,
when I turned on the water.
Again this year, the soda machine was not working ... why because the hotel
UNPLUGED it. Same thing as last year. You have to move the machine out to plug
it in. I heard the hotel unplugged machines every other floor to save on
Electricity.
CLUB NIKI was a JOKE. If you have the body perfect (of course my friend and I
don't) they don't let you into the club. So while out at the big pool where all
the normal people are, they have nice soft rock music playing. Once Club Niki
opens, THUMP THUMP THUMP goes the club music right over the soft rock music. Ok,
if you are going to put club music on, turn off the soft stuff. It was so
annoying that we got up and left. Mind you, we go clubbing all the time, but
really, in the middle of the day???
Over all I would say, RUN don't stay here. The Luxor was the same price and I am
ticked off, that I didn't stay there!

Although I was told after making our reservation at the Tropicana that it was
one of the "older" hotel/casinos on the strip, but my wife & I did not get that
feeling at all and were very happy with the Tropicana from the second we
arrived.
It's about a $12-$15 cab ride from the airport and takes less than 10 minutes to
get there.
The location is great. There's elevated crosswalk access to the Excalibur which
has a free tram connection to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. NYNY is adjacent
corner and the MGM Grand is the other crosswalk from the Tropicana.
This gives you great access to either side of the strip to start casino hopping
and sight seeing on the strip.
The Tropicana is a clean property and we loved the palm trees all over. The pool
area is really cool. There's tons of lounge chairs (free) and no hassle to grab
towels. The pool has a very curvy design which we felt offers lots of room for
guests to hang out (with a drink perhaps) alongside at the edge of the pool and
chill.
The casino itself is not enormous like other newer casinos. We didn't choose the
Tropicana to gamble - we chose it to be a relaxing spot with a good pool to
spend our days.
We were on the 9th floor overlooking the pool area and towards the Hooters
Casino & airport. Regardless of the view, the room was clean & the hallways have
a sweet smell, almost like coconut or something. The place didn't reek of smoke
and the room was clean, bed was very comfortable, had a nice 42" flat screen tv,
the bathroom was spacious and the shower was clean and had good pressure.
We didn't pick the Tropicana for all the glamor that is Las Vegas. Pick it for
the chill pool scene and nice rooms, staff and ease to get around the property
and to the strip. I have no complaints and would definitely stay again.
Room Tip: The staff let us check in at 11 AM, it was greatly appreciated!!

As we make plans for our next vacation, we are thinking of including more
information. Las Vegas has really changed since we last were there. We did not
find anywhere to eat that was reasonably price. Las Vegas use to be a reasonable
place to eat and good food. Not anymore. We had brunch buffet at the Tropicana
and it was 24.99 a person, and the brunch was terrible, and terrible service.
Brunch was a sticker shock with no appealing combinations. Do not eat at the
Tropicana you will be very disappointed. The pool at the Tropicana was the best
feature, but remember the pool closes at 7pm. Probably, the pool closes so
people will gamble more. This is not right when you pay for pool fees of 9.99 a
day. Also, no washer and dryer service at the Tropicana, another way to get
money from people. They will do your laundry for another sticker shock it was
like 3 something to wash one pair of underwear, and the price of a shirt I
believe was 7 dollars and something. It was another way the hotel casinos can
get money. It will be a long time before I see Vegas again. We could have went
to Hawaii and had good meals for what we spent on Vegas. Mostly ate sandwiches
at Starbucks for whole week which was still costly. Please be warned Vegas has
changed.

Stayed at this hotel last year, first trip to sin city, holiday was fantastic
and the hotel was even better.
We were told just before checking in it was voted most in need of tearing down
my stomach did a flip flop, but we were then told it had been renovated, and boy
had it ! I have travelled a far bit and have never seen a room like it
everything was HUGE beds, telly, bathroom and above all else CLEAN ! it was
right in the action a short walk down the strip to anything and everything. I'm
going back and i will stay there again. staff were nice and helpful. specially
the drinks ladies tip them and the drinks are free !!!

We came for business reasons but my wife and I talked about coming back again
for pleasure. Great restaurants, excellent casino, close to many other places on
the strip. We weren't sure what to expect but the whole place is new and redone.
Room Tip: If coming for business take a room in the South tower as they are
close to the facilities.
