Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Reviews

19 February 2012
We decided to stay at the Hard Rock hotel for the Magic show convention (clothing related... not Chris Angel related), which consequently was also during Valentine's weekend in Vegas. We've stayed here before, and since it's Vegas we rarely stay in our room. We gamble, love to dine, and I love to shop... awe the perfect trifecta. The hotel was busy, I mean really busy, we had twenty people waiting to either check-in or check out while we were waiting, which was a drag. But, we had a really nice representative who checked us in. Fast forward a couple of hours, and we find our questionable housekeeping episode. I decided to take a shower, and I as I stepped out of the tub my eyes transfixed on the 6x6 huge glass bathroom mirror. This is what the previous visitor of room 611 wrote in the foggy mirror " We will be waiting at Pink Taco(this is a taco bar located in the lobby area of the hotel )..."explicative", along with a drawing of a women's legs open with an anatomically correct depiction of a women's nether region. It wasn't the drawing or the writing that eerked me, but rather that housekeeping OBVIOUSLY did not wipe down the mirror. On the second night, and after another housekeeping "attempt", the mirror was still left unclean. Since housekeeping was lacking, I started to get grossed out at all the possible other areas that were left uncleaned i.e. bed sheets, toilet, and desks. Other than the gross housekeeping, the hotel area was nice.
Here are the pros and cons in a nutshell:
Pros: Great price
contemporary room
Free shuttle to the strip

Cons: $10 cab far to the strip
$20 resort fee, for what exactly I don't know???
housekeeping???
high minimum for table gambling ~$20

P.S. The concierge was a joke, the blonde woman who claimed to be concierge was rude and unhelpful. Example: There were two people waiting in the concierge line, myself and this other guy. After this lady helped the guy, she got on the phone and then "signaled" to me to wait while she chatted. I'm not in the customer service game, but I think the guest standing in front of you is more important that a guest that's on the phone. That's just my opinion.

I love HRH. It's really a great hotel if 1.) you don't mind cigarette smoke and 2.) you've stayed in hotels before (NOT Best Western or Motel 6). We stayed in a suite in the Casino Tower and had the greatest view possible. I also booked with a Groupon, but read the fine print ahead of time. If you sign up for deals without finding out the details, you have bigger problems than resort fees. That being said, we don't smoke and found that this casino had more smoke than any other we visited. Paul McCartney's autographed Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass is near the Casino Tower elevators and two of Buddy Holly's suits are in Mr. Lucky's restaurant! If you think that's cool, this is the hotel for you. If you think it's cheesy, I don't know what you're doing in Vegas.

Amazing hotel. Great bang for your buck. Arrived on Sunday for five days and were upgraded to a deluxe suite in the Casino Tower. Some previous reviews have stated that the Casino Tower was loud with dirty rooms. Our room was very clean and quiet, even with Motley Crue performing. It's location is about a ten minute walk to the middle of the strip, however, would not recommend walking it in the dark. Only draw back would be the resort fees.

The Hard Rock is the only hotel in the world that's ever checked me in TWICE to rooms that were actually still occupied. For that reason, I avoided it for a while. Until I got a deal that was just too good to pass up. Worth giving it another try...? A resounding YES.

This hotel is like night and day week-days vs. week-ends. During week-days it's kinda quiet and laid-back on week-ends it's wall-to-wall pandemonium! Don't come here to relax: no way that's gonna happen. But you probably will have a good time. The location is good: off the strip, but not too far off the strip. It's handy to have a car. Still the best pool scene in Vegas. The 24-hr. restaurant is tasty and the "special" is a good deal. The front desk staff is friendly and you even get smiles... And they're more likely to upgrade your room (at least during the week) than one of the bigger, fancier casinos that have a steadier stream of high-rollahs...

My room was beautiful, clean, big, comfortable.

Points off only for a few things:

1) Although they've improved their sports book incredibly by making it a Cantor concession, the odds on table games here are bad. They pretty much uniformly are paying 6-5 on a blackjack, whereas most casinos still pay 3-2. They were also one of the first hotels to have dealers hit on a soft 17 (now most do.) Both give advantages to the house. So while the dealers are great, friendly, sassy sometimes, from an odds perspective it does not pay to play blackjack here at all. Also, MANY of the players here do not know how to play blackjack and do all kinds of stupid and infuriating things. If you can't roll with that, also not a good place to play.
2) The soaps in the rooms are TINY. I know, everyone's cutting back but this is almost ridiculous.
3) The bell staff is uniformly glum and rude. Maybe they're trying to look cool, but the actual impression they give is they hate their jobs and the hotel is a sucky place to work...I'm sure HR does not intend to put this across. Still, in a week, whenever I passed bell staff in the hallway, never a smile or greeting of any kind; not even any eye contact...
4) They (like almost everyone else in Vegas these days, charges a ridiculous 'resort fee' that covers things you'd never use (wireless Internet...completely unnecessary if you've got an iPhone or tablet) and they'd never be able to make money charging for anymore...Just figure that extra $20 into the room cost when you're trying to figure out whether it's worth it. Because you won't pay that at any of the Caesar's related places.

A great hotel with very helpful staff. We were upgraded to a room on the top floor of the fairly new paradise tower. The room was kinda on the dark side, but very cool and has ultra comfortable beds. Glad we were so high up, I think the noise from the pool would have been annoying from further down (sometimes you need a little extra sleep from a hard Vegas night). The penthouse floor also meant that we were down the hall from Carey Hart and Pink and kept running into Chris Brown around the hotel (glad he didn't Rihanna me, lol). This is def the hotel where all the beautiful people go. Never seen so many good looking people in one place as I did at the rehab pool!

I stayed at Hard Rock for the World of Concrete trade show. Very nice place. Not overly crowded. Room in the HRH Tower was excellent. All the staff were very friendly. Food at Pink Taco and Mr Luky's was great. Only draw back in staying at Hard Rock is it is very far from the strip (must take a cab to strip). Otherwise great place.

upgrade to the HRH Tower was offered at check-in for not much more (considering it was a suite). Great room, great views, great service.. overall it was an awesome experience. Definitely returning.

We were looking for a reasonable place to stay during the CES convention when I discovered the BookIt.com website. I decided to take a chance on a great 2 night "Mystery Suite" deal and was happy to discover that the hotel was the new HRH Tower at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino! Not only was it a terrific value, the staff was professional, friendly and customer service driven.

We had a King Suite at the HRH Tower. The room was phenomenal! The luxurious decor trendy and hip with a separate sitting room, 2 huge flat screen TV's, Stereo, I Pod dock and the room is equipped with a great selection of music to listen to. The bed was one of the most luxurious and comfortable hotel beds I have ever experienced, firm yet soft with luxury linens. The bathroom was huge with a sunken tub and large shower.

I highly recommend the HRH, even though it's a few long blocks from the strip, it is a great place to stay in Vegas, especially if you are a rock in roll music fan. (And we are both die hard old school rockers!) The Vanity nightclub is a happening place on weekends. The restaurants are good and affordable when you take advantage of the specials. Try the Pink Taco happy hour (The house Margaritas are 2-4-1 and delicious and the happy hour appetizer menu is filling enough for dinner. We had the sampler plate are were not disappointed. The Lucky 7 is open 24-7 and has some unadvertised specials (thanks Yelp!) Try the $7.77 special (Steak, potatoes and salad, a basic comfort meal at a good value) and the $6.99 breakfast special of steak and eggs. These specials are NOT on the menu so you have to ask for them!
