A little Las Vegas goes a long way for me. That's especially true when I travel
there on business - I've got very little interest in staying in one of the faux
palaces, having to schlep through the casino or fight through buffet-seeking
crowds to get to my room. That's what makes THEHotel so nice. It's a stand-alone
boutique hotel with a quiet, sleek lobby well away from the clanging slots. But
if you're into the casino scene, it's only steps away, since THE Hotel is
connected to the enormous Mandalay Bay complex.
The biggest attraction is the rooms. For one thing, they're huge. Not rooms, but
suits, and pretty large ones at that, even the standard size. Nicely appointed
living area with a small bathroom and wet bar, decent sized bedroom and a very
good sized bathroom. TVs everywhere.
Downsides are few and not very severe. The cab line can be long. If you're
driving in, the parking garage and entrance can be confusing. THEHotel is at the
far end of the strip, so everything is a hefty cab fare away, but then again
everything in Las Vegas is a hefty cab fare away. Also, if you want a good view,
be sure and ask. Many rooms have views of the roof of the convention center and
Luxor next door, or the airport in another direction.

My wife and my two daughters stayed at The Hotel for 5 days. I think the rooms
are all suites which I liked very much. The service was very good from
everybody. We ordered room service twice and it was always quick, food was good,
and great service. The casino is a short 2 min. walk from the room. The casino
was nice and much more quite than many other of the casinos. If your looking to
party or just hang in the hotel there are some great bars in the casino that are
alot of fun.
Negatives: The hotel is at the very end of the strip so if you want to get
anywhere you have to take a taxi or expect a long walk. My feet and legs were
tired from walking on most days. Our shower was horrible. The temperature would
go from very cold to very hot. We could not get it to stay on one temp. during
our entire visit.
Overall: Although we had a great time and the rooms were great overall I would
probably stay somewhere else on the strip only because after walking around
there are alot of great looking hotels and I would want to try something
different. Bellagio, Wynn, and the Aria are on my list to try.

With our usual spot, the Four Seasons, sold out for the Super Bowl, we booked
through AMEX and they recommended The Hotel. It has been several years since I
stayed there, but it is still pretty chic and a credible alternative. The AMEX
Select Hotels programs gets you a a few perks, $100 food credit and an upgrade.
We arrived early on Super Bowl Sunday and after a bit of begging the
receptionist got us in to our rooms early. Excellent service. V Suites are ample
sized and well-appointed. Bar- The Lounge- has a very good evening vibe.
Only complaints- I noticed room service left outside multiple rooms for several
hours and the work out room was as expected a bit small.
Overall the hotel is more romantic and intimate that classy. Felt a bit odd for
a guys Super Bowl trip, but would go back again, only next time with my wife

I had to come to Las Vegas for a night to visit a customer and saw what looked
like a great for a night at TheHotel. I had stayed at the regular Mandalay Bay
before and they made it sound like a big upgrade so I figured what the heck,
lets' try it.
The front desk/check-in process was pretty quick. The hallways smell...but not
in a bad way. The scent the air or something. It wasn't overpowering and was
definitely better than "sterile hotel hallway" smell that some hotels seem to
get. It was a nice touch.
The deluxe room is honestly quite small. Maybe I ended up in an upgraded room
and didn't realize it at the Mandalay Bay but that room had much more walking
around room that the deluxe room did. The materials were darker/richer looking
at TheHotel. I'm not sure I'm a fan of that...but it was tastefully done and so
I give that a thumbs up overall. All the signs are there at the property has
been around for a while but mostly maintained quite well. I didn't see any worn
wood areas, the doors worked well for the most part, the carpet was in good
shape...however, the bathroom had three kind of bizarre little items that should
have been noticed and fixed. One, the chain from the toilet lever to the plunger
was disconnected. I had to take the tank top off and fix that. Then, the metal
trim around one of the faucet knobs was pretty loose and I just tightened it
back. And last, the rubber seal between the shower door and the small pane of
glass wall was starting to fall down from the top of the door...a good 2 feet or
so. Not that hard to miss. I'm not dinging them super hard because these were
not huge things. It's not like there was a gaping hole in the wall that had been
patched poorly or stained carpet or anything...just little things that make you
go "really??"

On a good note, the bed and pillows were comfortable and the room temperature
was really consistent for me. Both of which are way more important than some of
the little items since I was there to sleep and go.
The TV could use an upgrade but a minor nitpick. Some of these nitpicks get
magnified since I stayed at the Aria a few weeks ago on a personal trip and
since that property is about 2 years old (if that old...not sure) it has all the
latest and greatest hotel tech built-in.
Last note - I do wish the check-in person mentioned the resort fee. I knew it
was going to be there but when it's on the magnitude of $20 a night I think they
should remind you. It just feels kind of underhanded.

THE Hotel is lovely and less tacky (and smoky) than the other Vegas hotels. We
had a suite which had a lounge, a HUGE bath (not like the standard extremely
small ones you get in America) and a wonderful room with floor to ceiling
windows. It was incredible and if you book far enough in advance, you can get a
good deal as rates vary significantly. THe only problem was, it was so amazing,
we didn't want to leave so if you stay here, make sure you have time to enjoy
the suite. I chose THEHotel after seeing a review in the Telegraph. You can get
rooms for as little as £68 a night but ours was $240 (including tax) but it was
well worth it - one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Only niggling
thing is that I was charged for an item from the mini bar which I did not use
and there was no email to contact and let them know they had made an error. If
you have the opportunity to stay here and it isn't on one of the expensive/peak
nights then do so - definitely a luxury - especially for couples. It is a bit
off the strip but you can walk from the other end of town or use the Vegas
buses. Definitely more for couple and less for stags. Would go back again just
for he hotel. It is much quieter as it is off the strip a bit, there is a
parking lot right by the entrance - dont use the valets - an unnecessary cost.
Internet I think, is provided at this hotel, but a lot of hotels in America
charge you for this service (around $10)

Rooms facing away from the strip (like ours) are likely to be a bit quieter but
as the hotel isn't directly on the strip it is quieter. Queues for checking in
and out can be lengthily so use the express checkout if you can. Make sure you
leave a day to spend just in your room - you will want it.

We stayed here the beginning of December and really enjoyed it. We have stayed
many times at the Palazzo and I assumed this hotel would be similar but I was
pleasantly surprised at the 1 bedroom with separate living room and 2 bathrooms.
I don't think you would need 2 bathrooms most of the time but it came in handy
when our friends stopped by. They stayed somewhere else but didn't want to go
back to their hotel after seeing ours. It is a bit of a walk to get to the front
of the casino but definitely worth it.

We were close to the show, and had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Room was clean
and roomy, everything worked. The only nit pick was the bottom sheet did not go
to the bottom of the bed, leaving my feet on the mattress pad! Weird and not a
problem the second night.
We bought a pass for the spa and work out room, and used it twice a day.
Fantastic and you should try it! $65 for 3 days and well worth it.

We were anxious to stay at Mandalay Bay as we had typically stayed at the other
end of the strip on our annual trips to Vegas. We were extremely disappointed in
how filthy the room was. The housekeeping staff don't believe in vacuuming up to
the wall... there was a dirt/dust strip about 4 inches away from the wall. That
was the first night.....should have been the last night. The next day after
housekeeping was there.... no towels left in the bathroom and the tub hadn't
been touched. A call to the front desk might as well have been a call to a wall.
No one seemed too excited to correct the issue... eventually we got a couple of
towels, then had to request a couple more. Not good. Won't waste my money there
again. |
