If you have business at the rio convention center this hotel is very convenient.
I had heard this hotel was recently renovated. My room was worn and with
scratched up furniture. Although this hotel has a 4 star rating there are almost
no amenities. There is a coffee pot in the room you cannot use. In order to do
so you must order the coffee from room service. I recommend you bring your own
products to this hotel. you are given a shampoo and conditioner combination,
lotion and soap. These are all heavily perfumed. One bright light is the Sports
Deli. This food concession is one of the best w/ very reasonable prices. The
rooms are large & not particularly attractive. Good water pressure & plenty of
hot water on this trip.

Best part of this hotel is that it's an all suite hotel so all the rooms are big
even the basic so as a tip for like young groups you can totally fit air beds :)
room was nice and amazing view anywhere, bed was big, had comfier ones but it
was fine!!!! T\Actually had drawers and a big closet in the bathroom! Drawers in
a bathroom hello!!!!!!!! Has a coffee machine but its keurig so obviously pay
for those or um bring your own! Staff was definitely friendly which is a plus,
they do put a $100 hold on your card that comes back like a week later which
kind of sucks oh well and no coupon book at check in. Tons of bars and dining
and entertainment so you could spend your whole time there easily, pool is
awesome and the steakhouse at the top! And don't miss their inside parade, free
beads!

Attended a Conference at Cesar's Palace but decided to get a package deal
through Air Canada which included air from Victoria BC + 7 nights at Rio - total
just over $1200 for two, which is pretty amazing. Cesar's Palace, conference
rate $195 + tax, is a 20-25 min walk from Rio or you can take the free shuttle
from Rio to Bally's and walk over the street to Cesar's P. Check-in at Rio good.
However, we couldn't get a room with a "proper" refrigerator. All rooms have a
fridge, but none have a freezing compartment which we needed for medical
purposes. Were offered a room upgrade (at an extra $150 per night which would
have been almost expensive as the whole vacation for my wife and me!), but the
front desk staff member couldn’t be sure whether a real fridge was in the
expensive suite. We were on the brink of moving out when one of the security
staff who was trying to help in this situation, suggested getting a real fridge
form the Cabana area of the Hotel. Viola! 10 mins later a proper fridge! Room
comfortable. Older style TV. New fangled expensive in-room coffee ($2 each
sachet). Lots to do within the entertainment part of the Hotel. Attended a show
of Motown music – Marvelletes, Platters and Coasters – excellent. We had a 2 for
1 voucher which made the cost palatable ($72 total). Had dinner at the Grill
which made an excellent burger. SBux on hand and always buzzing; their fruit
flans are $5 and well worth it! Parking free, safe, and about 1/3 mile walk to
our room in Ipanema Tower. Wifi extra/expensive. Maid service came mid
afternoons, which was too late for our liking, but my wife called for earlier
service and this worked out. Check-out by TV effortless. Took in the USA Sevens
international rugby tournament and, if you are a rugby fan, it’s truly
memorable. In fact we timed our visit to Vegas this year to accommodate the
Conference + the rugby! Rio is good value, with a few caveats.

The is my last review of the Rio as I won't be going back there. Ive been a
Diamond player for years. My last stay started out with a great looking room,
comfortable bed. The problem was it overlooked the train yard, highway and a
major road that runs from the Palms to Caesars. All night my room shook, sirens
blared and trucks roared by on the highway. I got zero sleep. I was at the VIP
area at 8am in the morning when they opened and asked to be moved to another
room. There was none clean, so I waited. And waited. And waited. Finally at 1:30
they still didn't have one to move me too. 2 more hours at least. I ended up
checking out and going to another non-Harrahs hotel. They never even asked my
why I was checking out early. So, this is my swan song review of the Rio.

Room is clean and reasonably priced. But shower water was not warm enough,
fluctuating with temperature. Very uncomfortable the first night. What surprised
us the most is they even charge you for using the coffee machine with coffee
packages in the room. They also cleverly display on your desk telling you
internet is available, but once you log on, you are told that one day plan is
about $14. Those two things were thrown right onto your face when you got in. We
immediately felt a bit frustrated and lost the appetite. A matter of principle.
Don't understand why a hotel like this would nickel and dime like that. I know
some downtown hotels catering business travelers in large cities do that, but it
is Vegas, for Pete's sake. Room was spacious, but what is the use? Like most of
the people, we only slept there. Also it is off Strip, that means you will have
to take a shuttle to Harrah's or Bally, to get to the Strip. It costs more from
and to the airport. We actually took local bus from airport. It is route 109,
connecting to 202 (ask bus driver for directions). One way fare is $3 per
person, beat $7-8/person by shuttle bus, or $18-22 by taxi. Next time we will
stay at a hotel along the Strip with hot shower water, free internet and in-room
coffee machine. A matter of principle.

We started staying at the Rio in Vegas 9 years ago. We have since stayed at
Paris and Caesar's on the strip and always go back to the Rio. The free shuttle
service runs all day lon about every 15 minutes that takes us to many places on
the strip so we do not feel isolated from the strip at all.
The Rio is always clean, beautiful and exciting! All of the rooms are suites, so
you always feel special. The daily Masquerade Show in the Sky is fantastic and
the "Bevertainers" are such an original idea---folks who serve you drinks, then
get on stage to sing and dance throughout the whole casino periodically.
Customer service is beyond excellent and the restaurant selections are all
fabulous and satisfying. The Voodoo lounge-outside facing the strip on the 51st
floor-is a wonderful experience and alot of fun-even for older adults!!! We just
keep going back because we always have the best overall experiences of Vegas at
the Rio!!

Caught a FABULOUS deal mid-week, $21 per night. I was leery, but the room was
great. The shower was hot, hot, hot, nice fridge for leftovers and cocktails,
bought our own keurig cups at Smith's to save

I had a girls week in Las Vegas in September. We visited RIO to eat at their
buffet and play slots. We went to the Rewards Club booth to redeem a buffet
offer and there were approximately ten people in the Gold Members line. |
