What a fabulous time, not only was the Hotel the host for the Rugby tournament,
with the sister stations involved, there were activities at the hotel after the
game, with a large tent and live music. The Hotel is so warm and inviting, it
makes you want to stay at the resort, movies, bowling and of course gambling. My
future stays in Las Vegas will always include a trip to their fantastic Oyster
Bar, can't say enough good things about it.

Firstly if you think Red Lobster serves good seafood and you think that dining
there is a great seafood dining experience, there is no point in reading
further. I have a sophisticated pallet and am demanding on dining establishments
and constantly seek the best of the best and compare it to its value.
I find myself continually coming back to the Oyster Bar located inside Sunset
Station Hotel/Casino complex.
I have mainly been concentrating on their extraordinary offerings in the chowder
and specialty soups. I have had 4 of their dishes and right off the bat give
each dish 5 stars out of 5.
My first experience was their Cioppino. Brimming with seafood and rich and
complex broth.
All of these are served in a large, very large bowl with two heaping mounds of
perfectly cooked rice. The second time I tried the Shrimp Etoufee. In a word,
perfectly done. Lots of very large shrimp and spicy. Then I moved to the House
Bake. This is thier own concoction of shrimp, lobster, crab and more, in a
creamy tomato cream bisque like sauce. This dish is to die for.
I have been to New Orleans several times and in a blind taste test, Oyster Bar
would win hands down. At least one of the chefs are from New Orleans and knows
proper seasoning and cooking of the rue and spicing. I have seen crab legs being
cooked and served and they too looked succulent with happy patrons. They of
course serve freshly shucked oysters, big ones, but I have not been able to pry
my cravings away from their amazing chowders and etoufees.
This restaurant is worth the cab ride, even from the Las Vegas Strip. Prices are
set for the local budget and are a very good deal for the quality and quantity
of food delivered.
If thats not enough, the visual experience and the sensory experience is
fantastic as they cook your dish right in front on you on an elaborate steam
kettle line. Truly a must dine location.
I am not affiliated with this establishment but wish I owned it. I eat there at
least once a week.
It is my new standard for New Orleans style comfort food done right!

I've stayed in a lot of casinos out west as they have great rates. I do not
actually gamble, at all. Many times there a smokey smell throughout the
facility. I have even been in some that there was not even a chair in the room;
my guess was they wanted you to spend more time in the casino than in the room.
For the business or family traveler, this was frustrating.
But this place was built for comfort and fun. We did get an upgrade and the
upgrade was stupendous! I'll just say this: our suite had TWO bathrooms! It also
had a living room dinning room, jet tub and separate shower room. I've stayed in
some nice suites; this was one of the nicest. The casino was fun to stroll
through and there is a real large bowling alley and IMAX movie theater. And, our
personal favorite, a Ben and Jerries' Scoop Shop! Well, a good nights sleep in a
comfy bed (out the windows was a long off view of the Las Vegas lights). Truly
well done! If you are looking for a place to stay, near Las Vegas, do not miss
this one.
One more thing, I've watched gamblers in other casinos, and the ones here
actually seemed to be smiling more than what I've seen before; maybe it was the
nice, comfy rooms they knew they were going back to. I can't say whether they
were winning more, but I saw some actual belly laughs! A very nice place, good
energy.

We got an amazing deal the same day, booked online. Don't overlook the resort
fee fine print though. Even with that, it was still an amazing deal. We got a
non smoking suite, and it was refreshing that the room did not even have a hint
of that stale smoke smell that they usually do. The room was large, clean, and
modern. The plumbing was kind of loud from some other rooms when toilets were
flushed, but it didn't wake us at night. No breakfast. And also no fridge or
microwave in the room, which surprised us. One thing, pretty messed up, is the
key packet you're given at check in lists the amenities that the resort fee
covers, one of which is "high speed internet in each room". When you try to get
on the internet, however, you're given two options for purchasing internet, the
cheapest being $10 for 24 hours. So I guess your $15 amenity charge provides you
with the amenity of paying an additional fee for a service. Aside from that, we
loved it and would stay here again.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Sunset in the middle of our 14 night Vegas
vacation. We have stayed at Sunset on several other occasions and really like
the property. The rooms are clean and over sized, but are starting to show their
age. We found the beds to be the most comfortable we've had in Vegas. The
toilets use a pressure flush system so are rather loud. The shower also uses a
pressure system. The water flow is more like a pressure washer than a regular
shower head. I really like the extra water force but my wife is less than a fan.
The rooms do not have safes. Safety deposit boxes are available at the front
desk. The paperwork is fairly minimal and the penalty for losing your key is
only $25. No deposit is required.
We both really like the fact that plenty of parking is available close to the
room tower. You can park your car and be in your room within 5 minutes without
walking through the casino. As others have noted, the hotel is not near the
strip, so I would suggest only staying here if you have a car or do not plan on
leaving the property. Since they have bingo, poker, plenty of full pay VP,
movies and many great restaurants, you really don't have to leave.
The employees at Sunset are exceptionally pleasant. They really go out of their
way to make sure you have a great stay.

We stayed here for the last two nights of our stay in the Las Vegas area. I
found a good deal on Priceline. But be warned that you will be charged $14.99
per night for a resort fee. The fee is just excessive.

We spend a lot of time here as it's very close to home. Occasionally we even get
a room just for the heck of it. Good restaurants, nice people, and the gaming's
not bad either. Great choice if you're on a budget, |
